Communitea x Wang Family Tea – 貴妃烏龍 (Guì Fēi Wūlóng)
One of our limited edition special roasts specially crafted for Communitea by our friends at Wang Family Tea.
Created in the wake of the tragedy of the 921 Earthquake that struck Taiwan in 1999, Gui Fei Wulong was named after the legendary Yang Guifei—one of the Four Beauties of ancient China—this oolong is a celebration of grace, strength, and sweetness. Crafted from leaves bitten by leafhoppers, it undergoes natural oxidation before harvest, producing a lush profile of candied fruit, wild honey, and baked plum.
Unlike greener oolongs, Royal Courtesan Oolong is more oxidized and carries a rich amber body and soft spice finish. Ideal for those who enjoy Oriental Beauty or complex, fruit-forward teas.
This tea is part of our Communitea x Wang Family Tea series, vacuum-sealed at source and co-labeled to honor both origin, craft, and the work of growing and connecting communities. Every purchase helps grow educational and intercultural initiatives through Storied Journeys, Village Teacher, and the Communitea Project.

Leaf, Liquor, & Tasting Notes
Leaf: Dry leaves are light brown, with a distinct honey and brown sugar aroma. If you allow the leaves to steam in a heated teapot or gaiwan, you will notice the leaves emit a lovely osmanthus and logan flower aroma.
First Round: a delightful mix of honey and longan fruit. There is also a subtle aromatic hint of osmanthus flowers in full bloom.
Second Round: sweet and floral, with added notes of baker’s spice and sandalwood. The honey sweetness grows in intensity during the finish.
Third Round: a slight shift away from the honey note, towards a more longan-forward flavor.

We are committed to not white labeling. We are apart of each others stories. The teas our partners provide us with are the product of their hard work and commitment to community. We commit to fair pricing that respects their margins and also allows us to provide for our workers and programs in the US to continue the work.
The Wang Family
The Wang Family (brother and sister owners Josh and Ivy) have been farming and producing tea for four generations in Taiwan. We take pride in our traditional and sustainable farming practices that have been passed down through the generations; we believe in letting nature do its work, rather than relying on chemicals or other modern farming techniques.
By working alongside nature, we ensure that the unique characteristics and flavors of Taiwan's beautiful terroir are preserved in each cup of tea.
Another important aspect of our tea production is our use of traditional charcoal roasting. Unlike most modern tea roasters that use electricity or gas, we use high-quality longan wood charcoal sourced from a local renewable forest. The charcoal tea roasting process is a delicate task that requires skilled hands, patience, and a keen sense for the fire.
Partnership with Communitea
Our partnership with Wang Family Tea is built on shared roots—growing tea and growing community. As they cultivate sustainable, generational farming and tea education in Taiwan, we cultivate education, opportunity, and connection between our communities and theirs. Together, we create pathways for our communities to learn with and from one another through cross-cultural exchanges and community-based education—funded directly through every cup of Communitea.
